In June we are delighted to host Frances Watt for a ‘Singing For Dancing‘ workshop, in which we will learn a few songs which sung as dance music in French, Breton and Swedish traditions. These examples will include features such as ‘call and response‘, counting backwards in strange languages(!), and above all, the embodying of rhythm to drive different dance types forward.
Frances is both a musician (flute) and singer. She is a singing leader for a community choir, has run a variety of voice workshops for community groups, and has set up French music & dance clubs in Norwich and Leeds. Expect an enjoyable workshop, with rewards for our ears, vocal chords, breathing, bodies, and confidence!
The workshop will start at 7:30pm in Shakespeare’s,with our usual music and dance session with offers and requests from 9pm.
